More control over the backup function

Hi, I’m writing to see if there’s a solution to a problem I’m having. I am logged into moviebase with trakt, I would like to be able to transfer a full backup of my data to my moviebase account, but this is not possible.I tried creating a backup file with access to trakt, then logged in with the moviebase account and restored the backup, but it doesn’t add anything.

Is there a solution? Thanks

Same issue here, I am premium user of moviebase but I’m logged with trakt, so track account has limitations and I would like to have all the data synchronized from trakt with moviebase account via email or google account to synchronize it with the google cloud, then I make a backup from moviebase but when I restore it, it does nothing.

I’m user of moviebase at the beginning, in that moment there isn’t google cloud option, only trakt and tmdb, that’s why I started with trakt but recently trakt has become much stricter with limitations, that’s why I would like to move all the content to google cloud

Any solutions? Thanks in advanced

The accounts are handled independently of each other. But I work on a solution for it.

Hi Chris, I see that in the last update you have implemented the ability to move all saved content from trakt to moviebase, however I get an error when starting the transfer.

I confirm that unfortunately I also have this exact same error

I have been able to solve it;

  1. you have to go to settings/backup (tick ‘one account’) and save the backup file in the storage.
  2. Log out of your trakt account and log in with your google account
  3. Restore the backup file you backed up to storage (tick ‘one account’)
  4. That’s all, The only thing to finish is to go to your profile and press synchronize account, now I have all trakt data migrated to moviebase account and saved in google cloud :+1:

The backup file also works now. The other mechanism needs to be fixed today.

It’s still in prototype but should only copy data without removal slight_smile:

There is a Google → trakt sync coming in the future.

This procedure appears to work, however only on the device on which it is performed. As if it were recovering the cache on the device that has always been used. If you try to sync imported content and then log in on a different device, it doesn’t download anything from the cloud.

Do you get the cloud icon with a tick inside on the covers? If so it should be synced, then I’ll try on another device.

Maybe I remember wrong, but the cloud icon with the check mark is only available with the trakt account. That should tell you trakt sync confirmation. The trakt to moviebase transfer only worked for 5 movies. (the only movies he couldn’t upload to trakt due to their new limitation)

I think that you have not done one of these steps correctly, the cloud with the tick inside It also appears with the option of the moviebase account through google cloud to know that it is backed up,

Then I’ll try on another device and confirm that everything is backed up with the moviebase account

There is a new update from play store, try and see how it goes

Done, I can’t figure out why it can’t backup my content. I managed to transfer everything to my Google moviebase account but on another device it doesn’t import the content. It can upload to the Cloud moviebase only the 5 contents that before on trakt I couldn’t add to collection due to the limits. It leaves everything else out

Edit:

Nothing to do. I tried several times, I even tried removing everything again. Backup from trakt and upload again, But to no avail. Trakt content is not uploaded to Google Cloud once imported. They are visible in the app if I import them, but it doesn’t sync to the moviebase account. In fact on a new phone (with cache and data deleted) if I log in to moviebase via Google, I don’t find any synchronized content except those outside of trakt

Do you use the same Google accounts, and which content is not transferred?

hi @chris , yes, i use the exact same google account that i associated with my moviebase account. i tried to transfer all the contents from the trakt account to the google one, both with in app sync (that you added with the latest update) and via manual backup file (following the advice of the user here on the topic). the result is that the contents are moved to the google account, but only offline. i noticed this because when i log in with the google account on another smartphone, the contents that i transferred are not restored (only the very few contents that were not synced with the trakt account due to the new limitations are synced). i’m running out of ideas on what else i could try to sync my entire library (I don’t see my viewing history, collections, watchlist, basically nothing)

At this moment I don’t have another device to test what you say, so I’ll have to delete data from the app to be sure, it’s possible that the same thing you say will happen to me, I don’t know, a priori everything seems synchronized with the cloud and the tick inside the covers, I’ll comment later.
The truth is that I really like trakt (the website, the app seems much worse to me than movebase) but paying 60 dollars every year is not an option for me in the future, so I’m more convinced by the idea of being premium with movebase with google cloud synchronization.

Well, I have tested it on another device and you are right, it does not transfer to the cloud

I would have preferred not to be right, I hope @chris finds a solution

Let me check the code.
Did you both used the JSON backup files?

Normally it should start a retrigger of all items to sync.
Do you have the cloud icon on each poster?

Hi Chris, Thank you. I use the JSON backup file and I confirm that all the posters have the check mark, as if they were uploaded to the Cloud
