Hi Chris,
You probably know that Trakt has recently announced a doubling of their annual VIP subscription price from $30 to $60 U.S. I am currently a VIP user. If I switch to a standard membership in Trakt, would I lose anything in Moviebase?
For example, I know Trakt has a low limit on list size for non-VIP users. I have multiple lists in Moviebase that are larger than that. I don’t really care if the lists are even shown in Trakt, but I don’t want to lose thousands of entries in Moviebase because you try to sync them with Trakt, and Trakt limits the number of entries it allows.
Honestly, I would be just as happy to not even use Trakt. I just want all my data reflected properly in Moviebase. Trakt actually causes problems because Moviebase uses TV Show information from TMDB, and Trakt seems to rely on The TVDB, and the two sources often disagree about how or whether episodes are listed.
The problem is that I have never been able to get a good understanding of how dependent Moviebase is on Trakt. Is it possible to have my Moviebase account be completely independent of Trakt and not sync with it at all. If so, how does one make that happen without losing anything in Moviebase?
I think maybe many of us could benefit from a complete understanding of the relationship between Moviebase and Trakt and whether Trakt syncing is even needed.
Thank you for any help clarifying this.
