In version 6.1.2, the Progress page listing is not being updated as it should when new TV show episodes are released.
In the first example below, “The Night Agent” is not shown on the Progress page. The second screen shot shows that 10 new episodes of the show were released yesterday. The third screen shot shows that “The Night Agent” does appear in the Progress listing after I look at the show detail myself. This should have happened without my having to display the detailed listing.
These second series of screen shot shows the same problem for “Silent Witness” The Progress screen originally shows two episodes have been released but not watched. When I display the detail, there are actually four such episodes. After I display the show detail, the count of unwatched episodes increases to 4, as it should. This too should have happened without the detailed viewing.
Version 6.1.4 seems to be properly adding shows to Progress List now when new unwatched episodes are released.
However, it is also adding shows that should not be added. Shows that list episodes that have not yet been released are also being added to the Progress List. I have several of these. There are two examples illustrated with screen shots below. Both these shows are now shown in my Progress List, even though all the episodes that have actually been released are marked as watched.
Yes, those are the two edge cases I see that are not handled correctly.
And yes, I would still want to be able to mark an episode as watched even though it does not have a release date that has passed. That is because TMDb still doesn’t always show the earliest release date for an episode. They insist on waiting until the episode airs on what they consider the originating source, even if it airs months later there. So we need to be able to mark the episodes watched if we want, even if they they don’t show an aired date or if the aired date has not yet passed. BUT those shows should still not be listed on the Progress page, until they have an aired date that has passed.
Just to be very clear, what I describe as the correct way to handle this is same way version 5 already does it. It adds to or updates items in the Progress list when a new episode shows up with an air date that has passed. In addition, we are allowed to mark an episode watched when we need to, even if it is not yet in the Progress list because TMDb doesn’t recognize the earliest airing of the episode.
That is exactly the way we need it to work in version 6, so we just need to get back to it working as it already does in version 5.
