Hello everyone, I’d like to report two issues I’ve been experiencing with Moviebase:
1. Collections not loading properly
Some collections get stuck in an infinite loading loop. This usually happens when TMDb lists future movies or placeholders without complete data (such as missing official title, poster, or release date).
For example, the V/H/S collection includes an “Untitled V/H/S Film” without basic information. While collections like Shrek or Avatar work fine (even with future movies), V/H/S fails because of these incomplete entries. It would be great if Moviebase could handle this more gracefully, perhaps by skipping incomplete items instead of freezing the entire collection.
2. Backup and restore issue
Another issue is with the Moviebase backup/restore feature (not Trakt). If we reinstall the app and first restore our data using the Moviebase backup, everything comes back as expected. However, once we log in and sync with Trakt afterwards, Moviebase seems to ignore the restored backup and behaves as if it’s syncing from scratch.
This resets all the customized home screen settings back to default, forcing the user to manually reconfigure everything again. It would be very helpful if the app preserved home screen preferences after a backup restore, even when syncing with Trakt afterwards.
Suggestions:
1 - Improve collection handling by ignoring incomplete movies instead of breaking the load.
2 - Enhance the backup/restore process so that home screen configurations remain intact after syncing with Trakt.
